Happy Barthday

This message was written (but not posted) on Sunday night.
A couple of pictures from Jeff's wedding are coming. Last night, we attended the barthday party for Simon.
Simon found out that he passed the California bar exam and it was his birthday, hence the "Happy 'Bar'thday" cake.
There was a sushi chef from a local restaurant who made the best rolls I've ever had. I can't call myself a sushi connoisseur, but these were damn good.

This is a group shot of everyone at the party.
Simon is the one in the green shirt standing next to me. His dad is the one with the mustache right next to him. His mom is the woman next to his dad with her right hand on his brother Andrew's shoulder and her left hand on his cousin Leia's shoulder.

The weather here has been terrific. We drove through Malibu today. We saw the Pepperdine campus and visited Point Dune beach. If you're lucky, I'll put some of those pictures up once I get them off my camera (these are from Simon's mom's camera).

I hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving. Jen and my's Thanksgiving day eating:
1. Chicken caesar and pulled pork sandwich at Midway.
2. Various Kraft Foods snacks on the plane to LAX.
3. Carne asada tacos in a hole in the wall taco stand in LA because it was 10 pm on Thanksgiving day.

A moment's rest

I'm back from a six-day whirlwind tour of Copenhagen, Helsinki and Stockholm. To sum things up quickly: Copenhagen was good, Helsinki was terrible and Stockholm is my new favorite European city. It was cloudy and wet most of the time I was there, but fortunately not too cold (no snow). I took pictures which I'll hopefully be posting in fairly short order.

I'm guessing I probably walked about 15 miles each day. I had to cram a lot of sightseeing into a very short time. You should see the blisters on my feet - they're of biblical proportions, although they've gotten a LOT better in the last two days.

Today I check out some apartments in the city (and hopefully sign a lease if I find one I really like.) Then tomorrow it's off to Key West for a week with my parents, where I plan to do as little walking as possible.

Happy belated Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night.

Ski Help

Sorry to use the blog for my own personal gain, but I was hoping those skiers among us could help me out. I have no idea what I need to go skiing. Help so that I can go to Vail prepared :)

As if being unemployed weren't bad enough...

... while working out at the gym this morning, Rosie O'Donnell was dancing around playing the bongos - with all of the sweatiness and heavy breathing that entails - with the cast of some musical on "The View."

And before you ask, there was another woman in the gym who put the TV on "The View." It wasn't me.

A phone test.

This picture was taken a few short days ago. What happened to that glorious weather? A big thunderstorm went through today and it's now windy as hell.

Testing, testing, 1,2,3

My class is about to start, so of course I'm writing this now.
I saw this
post today and had to try it.  It's about an online service that allows you to post to your blog by sending an e-mail.  I know that I tried this before directly with the Blogger email address, but I didn't really like how that worked.  After I sent the e=mail, I had to go into Blogger and click "publish post" to complete the task.  I thought that was pretty stupid.

So, we'll see if this is any better.  I also want to see if I can send a picture from my cell phone.

These guys are unbelievable

I was reading this on TPM today and it was just one more piece of proof that these guys are ridiculous in their hypocrisy. How is it that half the population still thinks that Republicans should be in power??
