Addition to our family...
Andrik and I are welcoming new additions to our family. No, I'm not pregnant :) We've adopted two kittens! Here are what are surely the first of many many kitten pictures you'll see in this space, at least until you get sick of seeing them :) They don't have names yet, but suggestions are most welcome. We met them today at their current home and we get to bring them home on Monday!!!
Our new baby boy hanging out under the dresser.
Our boy after he came out from under the dresser.
Me with our calico baby girl.
Our calico moved straight into my Burberry purse, although she had some competition while our boy and one of his brothers looked on :)

Okay, they're cute, but... cats? Come on. I didn't believe Jamie when she told me you were considering it. Liz's first question was "do we need to re-evaluate our friendship?" :)
So, a buddy of mine from work has a cat named Squishy. When he got a second cat, I lobbied hard for him to name it The Dude, but I think its name is Duck or something similarly stupid. That should give you some ideas. Feel free to use The Dude if you want. I really think you should give them names that sound good together though, a la "Squishy and The Dude".
Oh and you may as well contribute to the Infinite Cat Project while you're at it. Which is far cooler than Stuff On My Cat.
"The Dude" gets the axe because it violates the "One-word" pet naming rule.
Other names suggested have been "Thief", "Taxi" and "Burbery".
The search continues.
You may critique pet choices the first time you voluntarily house an animal that is petable or has fins.
Fine then, what about Nathaniel and Superfly?
An' I'll critique whatever I damn well please. I've housed you, ain't I?
As much as we'd love a dog, we'll get a dog either when you're here to walk it twice a day or when one of us is home before 8 pm every night...
Yeah, that's what people said about the fish we had for four years.
I only have one thing to say: 2013
I'm getting in trouble for that one.
My votes go for Sam and Matilda. I dunno why, they are just the first names that came to mind looking at the pics.
Kitties!
They're cute. They all start out that way. Suddenly one day, you'll wake up and they'll be full-grown cats, hissing and spitting at you when you try to pet them.
How do I know this? My family has been through five kittens. They all started off adorable - crawling all over us, mewing, licking and purring. A year later, the party is OVER, and you have a frumpy old cat.
Of course, that's just my family. Everyone else I know has fun cats, cats that run and play and sleep in your bed and generally stand around looking cuddly. So I think you guys may be all right after all.
I think you should play the duality card and name them Ping and Pong. Or Frick and Frack. Or Tom and Jerry (I guess the girl could be Geri, like Ginger Spice.)
In any case, I want to meet 'em while they're cute. Before they turn into cats.
We have thought of Callie for a name. The trouble is that we have friends who just got a puppy that they named Cali. You can't name a pet after a friend's pet. It sucks, especially because I suggested the name Cali to them a couple of months ago.
I like Sam. Maybe Sam and Pat. They can have interchangeable names. There's something about naming a pet an actual person name that I think is a little weird. Best cat name ever? Our friend Kay's cat, named Pounce.
Sam and Pat? Nice and gender-ambiguous. How about Thing One and Thing Two?
You could get literary, too. My parents got two cats and named them Holmes and Watson.
The tough thing about literary names is that they are all male-male names. There are no good female-male names that I can think of. That pretty much leaves TV and movies. Fred and Ginger. Fred and Ethel. Jack and Krissy. Kevin and Winnie. Like I said, there's that thing about people names...
I could go for irony with Toto or Lassy Benji or Rin and Tin.
I think the names won't be settled until next Monday night. You are welcome to come over and be part of the process.
ps. Jen's going to flip when she sees the number of comments on this post.
