Puppy Bowl III

"Puppies cavort in a play area that looks like a football stadium in the third annual event that offers an alternative to the Super Bowl. Included: a halftime show featuring kittens."

I have just spent fifteen minutes watching this. They have instant replays, and "Bowl Cam" (a water bowl with a glass bottom with a camera underneath to look at the puppies while they splash), and "water time outs" to replenish the water bowl. But the very best part is the soundtrack of a sports crowd that cheers when the puppies do something.

Gotta love it.

I happened to log into the blog right after you posted this, and just finished watching about 20 minutes of Puppy Bowl myself.

Ridiculous! And yet, I still find it more entertaining than football.

Having just finished watching the game with a room full of business school people that are trained in marketing, I have to say that I was doubly disappointed. First by the game itself (how bad can you possibly be and still be a starting quarterback in the superbowl?) and second by the terrible, horrible commercials.

How bad does it have to be when CBS ran 1000 commercials for its own shows? It reminded me of watching Comcast cable and their incessant, eye-gouging commercials.

Seriously. How. Bad. Can. You. Be.

That was awful. And the commercials were lame too, by Super Bowl standards.

Still, props to Prince for standing in the pouring rain and playing anyway.

The commercials were devastatingly disappointing by most standards. Why would you spend $1.5 million to pay for a superbowl commercial slot to air a commercial that you are already running on TV? That's just stupid.

Quote one party-goer yelling at Rex on the TV last night, "You don't have to do anything good, just don't mess up!" Boy did Rex not get that message.
