Feel the Burn

So, we've got some people dedicated to exercise who look at this blog, right? So, riddle me this: why is it that today's 10 mile bike ride hurt more than the 1st 10 mile bike ride that we took a month ago? Even after I've been working out with bike rides, Peter Gunnerson's Core Secrets (which I love) and finally swimming yesterday. Any advice would be greatly appreciated so as to help me avoid intense agony during workouts.

Bicycling is, unfortunately, not something I can help you out with. Allan might have some pointers. My biggest piece of advice would be - don't bike. Use an elliptical. Whatever happened to that Gazelle thing you guys had in Michigan?

I'd be more than happy to come scream excercise cliches at you while you work out. You know, stuff like "push the envelope!" and "blast through your glutes!"

Assuming girls have glutes. They do, don't they?

I'm guessing that on the first ten mile ride you took a month ago, your bike was so happy to be ridden that it decided not to cause you any pain whatsoever.

The honeymoon is over.

It's a rare bike ride indeed that inflicts no pain. All I can advise is that you keep riding, eventually your muscles will get used to it, and may even demand that you take them on a ride.
